Thru Hike Syndicate
Founded by Vasque Footwear in 2014, JAM Collective managed the Thru Hike Syndicate from 2018-2024 as a brand partner-powered program annually supporting a selection of diverse thru-hikers attempting to complete some of America’s most iconic long trails.
Partnering brands included: Vasque Footwear, Osprey Packs, NEMO Equipment, LEKI USA, Darn Tough Vermont, Arc’teryx, Sawyer Products, LifeStraw, Peak Refuel, Mountain House, Ledlenser, Biolite, Kahtoola, and media partner Trails Magazine.
Bringing Diverse Voices to Thru-Hiking
The Thru Hike Syndicate began as an ambassador program that was turned into an opportunity to challenge the perceptions of who a thru-hiker was or looked like. JAM Collective worked with the sponsoring brands to highlight various trails, long and shorter distances, and first-time hikers, as well as seasoned thru-hikers.

Program Management
JAM Collective took on the complete program management in 2018, including the application and selection process, brand and ambassador relations, product distribution, and social media management. Our team worked to meet everyone’s needs for on-trail resupply to brand asset deliverables.
PR Meets Community Engagement
Community-engaged programs, such as the Thru Hike Syndicate, provide sponsoring brands with meaningful partnerships with ideal product testers, storytellers, and creatives to communicate the bigger picture of brand commitments. From blog stories to social posts, the Syndicate sponsors were seen on the trail and online as supporters of much more than miles and peaks.
These partnerships create an index to reference for how new product launches are informed by and catered to their ideal audience by way of leading the charge in inclusive and informed community engagement.
